Editorial Policy

1. Sources
We take facts in this order: first the original scriptures (Vedas, Upanishads, Itihasas, Puranas, Agamas), then the commentaries on them by respected acharyas, then authoritative editions by scholars. Every fact is given with its scripture and, where possible, the chapter and verse number.
2. Differences between traditions
Where scriptures or sampradayas say different things, we show all the views with their sources and state which view belongs to which tradition. In the knowledge graph, such relationships are shown with a dotted line. We do not present any sampradaya as superior or inferior to another.
3. Respect
We do not denounce any religion, sampradaya or community. On contested subjects, we present the historical context and the different points of view.
4. Translation
The original Sanskrit text is in the public domain. The Hindi and English translations, word-by-word meanings and explanations of meaning are written by our team. We do not publish any publisher's copyrighted translation.
5. Use of AI and automation
Most pages on this site are first drafted with the help of AI, and new pages are also added by a daily automated job. Before anything is published it goes through our rules: every date and time is checked against Drik Panchang (a date that differs, or a time more than 5 minutes off, is not published); every shloka, aarti and chalisa is checked word by word against at least two independent sources; every fact carries its source, and what is not in scripture is marked "by tradition".
Our reviewer then reads the pages. A page the reviewer has read shows "Reviewed by" with the name and date; other pages say "Edited by the SanatanBodh editorial team". The images on the site are symbolic illustrations made with AI; we do not create the forms of the deities with AI.
6. Panchang
Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana are calculated from the astronomical positions of the Sun and the Moon, using the Lahiri ayanamsa. The tithi of a day is the one prevailing at sunrise (udaya tithi). Different traditions may follow different rules for fixing the date of a vrat. The full method, and how we check it against Drik Panchang: How we calculate the panchang.
7. Corrections
Every page has a "Report a mistake" link. When we receive a report, we check it against the source and, if it is correct, we fix the page, and its update date changes.
