From October 2026 to December 2027 there are 59 auspicious griha pravesh days for New Delhi on which our calculation and Drik Panchang agree: 14 in 2026 and 45 in 2027. The first is on Wednesday, 11 November 2026. There are none in October 2026 or from July to October 2027, because the lunar months of those days are not taken for griha pravesh. The days are chosen by nakshatra, tithi, weekday and month; the lagna of entry and the family’s custom are not part of this list, so check with your purohit before fixing a date.

The rules behind these days
- The Moon in Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada or Revati
- Tithi: Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami or Ekadashi of either paksha, or Shukla Trayodashi or Krishna Pratipada
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday (not Sunday or Tuesday)
- Lunar month (amanta) Magh, Phalgun, Vaishakh, Jyeshtha, Kartik or Margashirsha; no day with any part in an Adhik month
- Venus and Jupiter not combust, nor in the three days before and after (their old age and infancy); combust by the customary values: Venus within 10° of the Sun (8° when retrograde), Jupiter within 11°
Each day, from sunrise to the next sunrise, was checked minute by minute for all of these together; only a stretch of at least 5 minutes counts as a muhurat. The weekday is counted from that day’s sunrise, so the hours after midnight until the next sunrise belong to the same day. When a third tithi begins within one day (the middle one being kshaya), that part is not taken, as in Drik Panchang’s list.
Drik Panchang says on its page that its list comes from nakshatra, weekday, tithi and lunar-month shuddhi, that there is no griha pravesh while Venus or Jupiter is combust (citing Muhurta Chintamani and Dharmasindhu), and that the Adhik month is left out. Which nakshatras, tithis, weekdays and months it takes was matched against its day-by-day notes (“Prohibited Weekday”, “Prohibited Tithi”, “Lunar Month is not Auspicious”). With these rules our calculation reproduces its whole list for 2027 and for October to December 2026. Drik Panchang times the setting and rising of Venus and Jupiter by when they can be seen in the sky, and we by the customary degrees; in this period that makes no difference to the list, because by either method the combust days fall in months that are left out anyway. How we calculate the panchang
Checked against Drik Panchang
We publish only the days on which our calculation and Drik Panchang’s list agree within 5 minutes at both ends. From October 2026 to December 2027 all 59 days on Drik Panchang’s list matched our calculation, so none was left out.
Frequently asked questions
How many griha pravesh muhurats are there from October 2026 to December 2027?
From October 2026 to December 2027 there are 59 auspicious griha pravesh days for New Delhi on which our calculation and Drik Panchang agree: 14 in 2026 and 45 in 2027. The first is on Wednesday, 11 November 2026. There are none in October 2026 or from July to October 2027, because the lunar months of those days are not taken for griha pravesh. The days are chosen by nakshatra, tithi, weekday and month; the lagna of entry and the family’s custom are not part of this list, so check with your purohit before fixing a date.
Why are there no griha pravesh dates in October 2026 or from July to October 2027?
Only the amanta months Magh, Phalgun, Vaishakh, Jyeshtha, Kartik and Margashirsha are taken for griha pravesh. October 2026 falls in Bhadrapada and Ashwin, and 5 July to 29 October 2027 in Ashadha, Shravan, Bhadrapada and Ashwin; in 2027 Venus is also combust during that time. For the same reason there are none from 8 January to 6 February 2027 (Paush), from 7 April to 6 May 2027 (Chaitra) or from 28 December 2027 (Paush).
How do these months look in a purnimanta panchang?
This list uses amanta months, which change after the new moon. In the purnimanta panchang of North India the month changes after the full moon, so the Krishna paksha carries the next month’s name. For example, 22 March to 1 April 2027 is Phalgun Krishna paksha in amanta reckoning but shows as Chaitra Krishna paksha in a purnimanta panchang. The days and times are the same in both; only the month’s name differs.
Are these times the same for every city?
The moments when the nakshatra and tithi change are the same across India, so most times stay the same. But each day runs from one sunrise to the next, and sunrise changes with the city, so times near dawn can differ a little elsewhere. This list is for New Delhi.
Does this list include the lagna and the time of the vastu puja?
No. This is a general list based on panchang shuddhi alone (nakshatra, tithi, weekday, month, Venus and Jupiter combust). Drik Panchang too advises asking a learned person before choosing a day from these dates. Fix the lagna of entry, the time of the vastu shanti puja and the family’s custom with your purohit.
Is griha pravesh done in Chaturmas?
Drik Panchang’s list does not count Chaturmas separately; it goes by the lunar month, and Kartik is one of the good months, so a few Kartik days before Dev Uthani Ekadashi are on it too. Some families wait until Dev Uthani Ekadashi for griha pravesh; settle your family’s custom with your purohit.
