In the Ashtavinayak yatra
The Ashtavinayak are eight Ganesha temples in Maharashtra. According to Maharashtra Tourism the yatra begins and ends at Morgaon: Morgaon, Siddhatek, Pali, Mahad, Theur, Lenyadri, Ozar, Ranjangaon and back to Morgaon. Siddhatek is the second stop. Tradition holds all eight images to be swayambhu, found in natural form rather than carved (Maharashtra Tourism leaflet).
The story (by tradition)
The temple trust gives this story: the demons Madhu and Kaitabha arose from Vishnu’s ear, and Vishnu could not defeat them. Shiva told him he had forgotten Ganesha, and gave him a six-syllable mantra. Vishnu pleased Vinayaka here, built a temple on the hillock and installed an image, and here he attained siddhi (success); hence the names Siddhivinayak and Siddhatek. The trust names no Purana.
The temple
According to the trust the swayambhu image is about 3 ft high and 2.5 ft wide, faces north, has its trunk turned to the right, and has Riddhi and Siddhi seated on its lap. The sanctum was built by Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar; the stone road and ghat on the Bhima by Sardar Phadke, and the assembly hall by Gopalrao Mairal of Baroda. According to the trust the circuit of the hillock is about 1.5 km; according to the Maharashtra Tourism leaflet devotees walk round it seven times.

Where the sources differ
- District: the Maharashtra Tourism pages use the old name Ahmednagar; the Ahilyanagar district website and the Maharashtra government resolution of 2024 the new name Ahilyanagar.
- Distance from Pune: the Maharashtra Tourism web page says "about 200 km", which does not match its leaflet (Pune by rail 103 km), so no distance from Pune is given here.
- The order of the yatra: Maharashtra Tourism gives Morgaon, Siddhatek, Pali, Mahad, Theur, Lenyadri, Ozar, Ranjangaon and back to Morgaon. The Ranjangaon trust’s old website (archived copy of 2019) puts Siddhatek near the end: Morgaon, Pali, Mahad, Theur, Lenyadri, Ozar, Ranjangaon, Siddhatek and back to Morgaon.
