How panchak is worked out
According to Drik Panchang, panchak is the yoga formed as the Moon passes through Kumbha and Meena rashi with the Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati nakshatras. It begins when the Moon’s sidereal position (Lahiri ayanamsha) reaches 300°, the start of Kumbha and of Dhanishtha’s third pada, and ends at 360°, the end of Revati and of Meena.
Drik Panchang says that the five days of panchak are avoided for auspicious work. By tradition certain tasks are also avoided, but the list differs from source to source; ask your purohit for the muhurat of any task. More about panchak
