In short

“Jayati Jai Gayatri Mata” is the aarti of Gayatri, mother of the Vedas. It is printed in the worship books of the All World Gayatri Pariwar and is part of its yajna ritual. It calls Gayatri the primal Shakti, the power of Savita and the Goddess of the four Vedas. It is not tied to any weekday; it is sung after Gayatri japa and havan, and on Gayatri Jayanti.

This is the text printed in the All World Gayatri Pariwar books ‘Gayatri Chalisa’ and ‘Karmakand Pradeep’. Some versions differ slightly, for example ‘jagat dhatri’, ‘bhavharini’, ‘aghhari’, ‘pranavini’, ‘dukh daridra’, ‘sat marg’ and, in verse 10, ‘tushti, pushti mata’. Some sources add the line ‘Sat marag par hamen chalao, jo hai sukhdata’ to the refrain. The aarti does not carry any poet’s name. When sung, the refrain is repeated after every verse. Another aarti of Gayatri Mata, ‘Aarti Shri Gayatriji ki, gyandeep aur shraddha ki baati’, is also sung.

After the aarti, most homes recite: कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम्।
