भयाद्रणादुपरतं मंस्यन्ते त्वां महारथाः ।
येषां च त्वं बहुमतो भूत्वा यास्यसि लाघवम् ॥ ३५ ॥

Translation
The great warriors will think you withdrew from battle out of fear, and you will be lowered in the eyes of those who held you in high esteem.
महारथी यही मानेंगे कि तू डर के कारण युद्ध से हट गया। जिनकी दृष्टि में तू बहुत सम्मानित रहा है, उन्हीं की दृष्टि में तू छोटा हो जाएगा।
Explanation
There is compassion in Arjuna’s heart, but the world will take it only as fear. A warrior who was honoured among maharathis (great chariot-warriors) such as Karna, Bhishma and Drona will fall in their eyes.
