Established in yoga, perform your actions, Dhananjaya, abandoning attachment and remaining the same in success and failure. This evenness of mind is called yoga.
हे धनंजय, आसक्ति छोड़कर और सफलता-असफलता में समान रहकर, योग में स्थित होकर कर्म कर। यह समता ही योग कहलाती है।
Explanation
The Gita’s first definition of yoga: "samatvam yoga uchyate", that is, samatva (evenness of mind) is yoga. Verse 2.47 said there is no right to the fruit; this verse says in what state of mind to act: whatever the outcome, the balance of the mind should not waver.
