Translation
Nor do we know which is better for us, that we should conquer them or that they should conquer us. The sons of Dhritarashtra, after slaying whom we would not wish to live, stand before us.
हम यह भी नहीं जानते कि हमारे लिए क्या श्रेष्ठ है: हम उन्हें जीतें या वे हमें जीतें। जिन्हें मारकर हम जीना भी नहीं चाहेंगे, वही धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र हमारे सामने खड़े हैं।
Explanation
Arjuna now admits that he cannot reach a decision. Victory and defeat alike seem to bring him only sorrow. This very uncertainty leads him, in the next verse, to become a disciple and ask for guidance.
