Translation
This is the wisdom of Sankhya that has been taught to you; now hear the wisdom of Yoga, endowed with which, son of Pritha, you will cast off the bondage of action.
हे पार्थ, यह बुद्धि तुझसे सांख्य (ज्ञान) के विषय में कही गई। अब योग के विषय में सुन, जिस बुद्धि से युक्त होकर तू कर्म के बंधन से छूट जाएगा।
Explanation
Here the chapter divides into two parts. In 2.11–2.38 the teaching was given through "Sankhya", the knowledge of the Self; from 2.39 onwards comes "Yoga", the art of performing action. This is also called buddhi yoga or karma yoga.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Chapter 2 called Sankhya Yoga?
Its first part (2.11–2.38) explains Sankhya, the knowledge of the difference between the Self and the body, and from verse 2.39 it explains Yoga, the method of action without attachment. Together, the two form the subject of this chapter.
