Word by word
Translation
Arjuna said: How shall I strike at Bhishma and Drona with arrows in battle, Madhusudana? They are worthy of my worship, slayer of enemies.
Explanation
Arjuna’s crisis is a personal one: before him stand his grandsire Bhishma and his teacher Dronacharya, whom he holds worthy of reverence. He calls Shri Krishna "Arisudana" (destroyer of enemies), yet for him these men are not enemies but elders to be revered. This very dilemma is the root of all the questions that follow.
