Translation

ENGLISH

I see nothing that could drive away this grief which dries up my senses, even if I were to win an unrivalled, prosperous kingdom on earth, or even lordship over the gods.

Explanation

Arjuna says that his sorrow cannot be removed by any outward achievement; even a kingdom, or lordship over heaven, is no cure for grief. This sets the direction of the Gita’s teaching: the remedy for grief lies in inner understanding, not in outer things.
