From anger comes delusion, from delusion loss of memory, from loss of memory the destruction of reason, and with the destruction of reason one perishes.

Explanation

In anger a person forgets the difference between right and wrong (delusion), then forgets even what they had learned (loss of memory), and then discernment stops working. Without discernment, a person ends up harming themselves with their own hands. The easiest place to break this ladder is its first rung, that is, dwelling on sense objects.

How this verse connects

One who dwells on sense objects develops attachment to them.Bhagavad Gita 2.62
