Translation

ENGLISH

The Blessed Lord said: When one gives up all the desires that arise in the mind, son of Pritha, and is content in the self by the self alone, then one is called steady in wisdom.

Explanation

The first mark of the sthitaprajna: their happiness does not depend on outside things. Desires cannot pull someone whose contentment comes from within. This renunciation is not forced; it happens by itself, out of an inner fullness.
