Translation
For the mind that follows the wandering senses carries away one's wisdom, as the wind carries away a boat on the water.
विषयों में विचरती इंद्रियों में से जिस एक के पीछे भी मन चल पड़ता है, वही इसकी बुद्धि को वैसे ही हर लेती है जैसे जल में चलती नाव को हवा बहा ले जाती है।
Explanation
The example of the boat and the wind: even a single strong gust can push a boat off course. In the same way, a mind running after any one sense carries away the whole of one’s wisdom. So watchfulness is needed over all the senses, not just a few.
